Error description
When customer specifies e.g. PALTER LST,*SYSA,CLASS=0, command addresses the same LST outputs as PALTER LST,SYSA*,CLASS=0 which are LST outputs of class 0 starting with SYSA. The position of wildcard is not considered due historical reasons.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: all users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When customer specifies e.g. * * PALTER LST,*SYSA,CLASS=0, * * command addresses the same LST outputs * * as * * PALTER LST,SYSA*,CLASS=0 * * which are LST outputs of class 0 * * starting with SYSA. The position of * * wildcard is not considered due to * * historical reasons. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Now VSE/POWER can search jobnames ended with the specified characters. 'SET SEARCH=*JNAME' autostart statement is introduced to activate this functionality. Changes are made for "VSE/POWER Administration and Operation" Version 9 Release 2, SC34-2625-01, chapter 6, paragraph "SET: Setting VSE/POWER Startup Control Values", for new value of autostart SET statement: 1. Description of the new 'SEARCH' control value on page 556 (after 'RSCSROOM'): SEARCH To activate alternative search for generic jobname. 2. Syntax diagram of the SET statement on page 558: insert 'SEARCH=*JNAME' operand after 'RSCSROOM=DIST '. 3. Description of the new 'SEARCH=*JNAME' operand on page 568 (after 'RSCSROOM=DIST'): SEARCH=*JNAME This operand activates alternative handling for Positional Search operand *jobn in PALTER, PDELETE, PDISPLAY, PHOLD, POFFLOAD SELECT and PRELEASE commands. Default handling of *jobn is the same as for jobn*. When alternative handling is activated, *jobn specifies the queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. As search argument, you can specify for jobn one to eight characters. SET SEARCH=*JNAME specification will not affect commands issued by current SAS applications. To activate the alternative search, SAS programs must set SPLCFJNP flag in SPLCFLG flag byte. PWRSPL TYPE=MAP will show specification. When 'SET SEARCH=*JNAME' was specified in VSE/POWER Autostart statement then the specification of *JOBN in PALTER, PDELETE, PDISPLAY (Formats 1, 2), PHOLD, PRELEASE and POFFLOAD SELECT command will search for queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. Changes are made for "VSE/POWER Administration and Operation", Version 9 Release 2, SC34-2625-01 : 4. JOBN* description of PALTER command on page 221: jobn* Specifies the queue entries whose name begin with the specified characters. *jobn specifies the queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. It must be activated by "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" in VSE/POWER Autostart, otherwise *jobn will work the same way as jobn*. As search argument, you can specify for jobn one to eight characters. 5. JOBN* description of PDELETE command on page 248: jobn* specifies that all VSE/POWER jobs whose jobnames begin with the specified characters are to be deleted. *jobn specifies the queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. It must be activated by "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" in VSE/POWER Autostart, otherwise *jobn will work the same way as jobn*. Up to eight alphameric characters may be specified for jobn. 6. JOBN* description of PDISPLAY Format 1,2 command on page 263: jobn* requests a status report on all VSE/POWER jobs whose names begin with the specified characters. *jobn specifies the queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. It must be activated by "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" in VSE/POWER Autostart, otherwise *jobn will work the same way as jobn*. For jobn you can specify any combination of up to eight alphameric characters. If the queue operand is not specified, status information for all such jobs in all queues is displayed. 7. PDISPLAY examples on page 289: PDISPLAY RDR,ASSM* or PDISPLAY RDR,*ASSM Displays the status of all VSE/POWER jobs in the reader queue whose names begin with ASSM. If "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" was specified in VSE/POWER Autostart then PDISPLAY RDR,*ASSM will display instead the status of all VSE/POWER jobs in the reader queue whose names end with ASSM. 8. JOBN* description of PHOLD command on page 353: jobn* Specifies those queue entries whose name begin with the specified characters. *jobn specifies the queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. It must be activated by "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" in VSE/POWER Autostart, otherwise *jobn will work the same way as jobn*. As search argument, you can specify for jobn one to eight characters. 9. JOBN* description of PRELEASE command on page 406: jobn* Specifies those queue entries whose name begin with the specified characters. *jobn specifies the queue entries whose name end with the specified characters. It must be activated by "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" in VSE/POWER Autostart, otherwise *jobn will work the same way as jobn*. As search argument, you can specify for jobn one to eight characters. 10. The new paragraph in "Summary of Changes" is introduced: Extension of jobname search functionality To extend search to all queue entries whose name end with a specified character string, new "SET SEARCH=*JNAME" has been added to VSE/POWER Autostart Statements. It will activate an alternative handling for *jobn specified in PALTER, PDELETE, PDISPLAY, PHOLD, POFFLOAD SELECT and PRELEASE commands. Refer to "VSE/POWER Autostart Statements on page 536" for the details.
