Abstract

Tivoli Storage Manager Server 6.1 and later includes a DB2 database server. There are specific limitations with this DB2 database server that you should take into account before installing Content Manager with Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1.

If you use a DB2 database with your Content Manager system along with Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 or later, the Content Manager server databases and the Tivoli Storage Manager server database need to be kept on separate systems. Installing and and running the Tivoli Storage Manager Version 6.1 server on the same Windows system that has Content Manager's library server or resource manager DB2 databases installed on them is not supported. The Tivoli Storage Manager server requires the installation and use of the DB2 version that is packaged with the server. No other version of DB2 can exist on the system.

Important: When installing Content Manager and Tivoli Storage Manager on AIX, Solaris, or Linux, the DB2 databases can be on the same server, but restrictions apply.
