WebSphere MQ offers a universal messaging backbone for connectivity and integration across all environments, including applications, services and SOA infrastructures. It connects new and existing applications, Web services, Cloud and On-premise, and mobile and smart devices to the business network with reliable messaging that acts as a foundation to SOA and event driven architectures providing a transport layer to an enterprise service bus (ESB). It delivers secure and reliable messaging, and other qualities of service, while offering choice in the class of delivery.

WebSphere MQ V7.1 provides additional enhancements to IBM Universal Messaging with new and improved features so customers can achieve a faster time to value and lower the cost of ownership while managing messaging infrastructures.

Enhancements include:

Performance points for WebSphere MQ v7.1

1. IBM WebSphere MQ V7.1 supports growth, especially for non-persistent messages(2KB): compared with previous releases, it now allows you better to scale your environment to take advantage of increases in the number of cores in your system (e.g., to 8 or 16).

2. Messaging at the speed of your business: the distributed platform versions of IBM WebSphere MQ V7.1 offer greatly improved performance for your business-critical messages, with improvements in message throughput of 40% on IBM AIX, 80% on Linux on x86 and 100% on Microsoft Windows (on the same hardware compared to the previous version) for persistent 2KB messages.

3. IBM WebSphere MQ V7.1 offers improved performance and message throughput for non-persistent 2KB messages , with measured message throughput improvements of: (i) 30% on IBM AIX; and (ii) around 50-100% on some Linux environments.

4. IBM WebSphere MQ V7.1 adds multicast as a new alternative for publish/subscribe configurations, ideal for rapidly distributing messages to large numbers of subscribers. Compared to publish/subscribe in the previous release, WebSphere MQ V7.1 offers performance improvements of 500% or more for distributing 256 byte messages to multiple subscribers.

5. Your business is no longer restricted to a few servers in your data center, but extends to mobile & other devices and sensors, and all using the MQTT protocol. An IBM WebSphere MQ V7.1 Linux Queue Manager can connect with more than 100,000 MQTT endpoints.

DISCLAIMER: Performance is based on measurements and projections using standard IBM benchmarks in a controlled environment. The actual throughput or performance that any user will experience will vary depending upon many factors, including considerations such as the amount of multiprogramming in the user's job stream, the I/O configuration, the storage configuration, and the workload processed. Therefore, no assurance can be given that an individual user will achieve results similar to those stated here.
