This course provides conceptual and practical knowledge of the fundamentals of XML and related technologies in the context of building e-business applications. Lectures cover the reasons for using XML, XML syntax, industry standards and templates as provided by Document Type Definitions (DTD), XML Schemas and their advantages over DTDs, namespaces and their purposes, extracting information using XPath, transforming XML documents using XML Stylesheet Transformation (XSLT), and the XQuery query language. Lecture materials are reinforced with hands-on lab exercises.
- XM341: Introduction to Programming XML and Related Technologies
Gain an understanding of XML fundamentals, theoretical and practical knowledge of the concepts that are required to work with XML, and experience working with XML in Java. Build the basic skills that enable architects, designers, and developers to use XML and its related technologies in the context of building e-business applications.
- WD221: Programming XML with Java 1.4
This course provides students with the working knowledge required to program Java applications using Extensible Markup Language (XML). Through lectures and hands-on labs, students develop both conceptual and practical knowledge that enables them to use XML and related technologies in the context of building e-business applications.
