As Berlin has 2 major airports with complicated traffic layouts, IBM will not be providing arrival shuttles to the Estrel and hotels. Taxis are available from both airports.
A complimentary daily shuttle bus service will run between the IBM hotels in the city and the Estrel Convention Centre. This service consists of 4 routes throughout the city and buses will run throughout the morning and evening. Please refer to the shuttle bus timetable for bus times, and ensure you make note of your hotel bus route and pick up point. If you are not staying at an IBM hotel please use the closest pick up point to where you are staying. There is no need to reserve seats on any of the IBM buses during the event, this is a “first come first served” service.

AIRPORT DEPARTURE TRANSFERS
Anyone planning to use the airport departure transfer service will need to bring their luggage to the Estrel Convention Centre for the start of Fridays’ sessions as there will be no transfers between the Estrel Convention Centre and the hotels during the day. All luggage should be stored in the luggage area on Level minus 1 below the hotel reception. Please allow additional time before sessions for luggage to be stored. Please note laptops cannot be left at the luggage storage.
There are 2 airports operating from Berlin, Berlin Tegel Airport and Berlin Schoenfeld Airport. IBM will provide departure transfers to both airports on Friday afternoon. Anyone wanting to return to the airport on any other day will need to use public transport or travel by taxi. Tegel airport is approximately 25-30 minutes drive from the Estrel and will cost around €30 in a taxi. Schonefeld airport is approximately 15-17 minutes drive from the Estrel and will cost around €15 in a taxi. For further information please ask at the Information Desk.
Please note, we strongly recommend that you leave the Estrel at least two and a half hours prior to your flight departure for European flights and at least three hours for non-European flights.
TAXIS
It is possible to hail a taxi in the street but you will also find special taxi ranks at the airports and throughout the city. There is also a taxi rank situated outside the entrance to the Estrel Hotel. Taxi fares are calculated on a basic rate plus a fixed rate for each kilometre travelled.
