Licensing

As of September 1st, 2006, Netcool licensing is aligning with existing IBM policy. As an initial part of a phased solution, an anyhost key will be included in the product download image on the IBM DSW Software and services download site. All customers will be directed to the IBM DSW Software and services download site to obtain the most current version of Netcool software and the anyhost key. New Netcool orders will be processed within the IBM infrastructure and upon procesing, a Proof of Entitlement letter (POE) will be sent. This notification will confirm details of your entitlements, your unique Software Site Number and IBM Customer number (ICN). In an attempt to make the transition as smooth as possible, we have listed below detailed steps to download software and licenses. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Netcool Licensing team who be able to assist you further: mmplic@uk.ibm.com.

Demonstration and Evaluation Licenses

Please contact your Sales Manager to request evaluation copies of Netcool Software. You will be required to complete an evaluation agreement prior to receiving access to the software. If you do not know who your Sales Manager is, please contact the Netcool Customer Relations Team who will be able to assist you - mmcr@uk.ibm.com.

Customers with active maintenance

Request of Legacy Software

To request legacy software, please send an email to netcool@uk.ibm.com.

You will need to provide the following information:

Once your details have been verified, the team will send you an email with a weblink and an access code.

Please select the product which you require and enter the access code.

The access key which you will be provided is linked to your IBM Personal account. Therefore it cannot be passed to other individuals. You are therefore responsible for downloading and storing the software for your account.

Business Partners
Business Partners will be allowed to request software on behalf of their supported customers.

Customers with maintenance

If you have received a letter from IBM designating you as the primary contact:

If you have received a recent communication from IBM designating you as the primary contact, please go to the following link and sign in using the temporary password provided: http://www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/softwareandservices. Please change the password and you can immediately begin to download software.

Please note as the primary contact you may also receive self nomination requests from employees in your company or your supporting partner who need to download Netcool. You will receive an email with a link to the site - please follow the link and promptly approve the requests in order for the requestor to gain access.


If you have not received a communication from IBM:

If you have not received a communication from IBM, your company has been identified as an existing customer with an existing IBM customer number (ICN). In order to access the IBM Software download site (DSW Software and services), you need to access the following URL: http://www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/softwareandservices. Once there, complete and submit a self nomination request for access. Your request will be reviewed and approved by the designated IBM Primary contact. Your IBM Primary contact can assist you with the process and can provide you with the Software Site Number required to complete the registration.

If you do not receive confirmation within 24 hours or have difficulty locating the IBM Primary contact, please contact the Netcool Licensing Team -


If you are a Reseller

If you are attempting to download software on behalf of a customer you will need to follow a self-nomination process and be approved/denied by the customer’s Primary Contact
Please follow these steps to self-nominate:

Registration and Authorization process for additional users:

  1. If you do not already have an IBM ID and password, please proceed to www.ibm.com and follow the steps to register with IBM
  2. If you already have an IBM ID and password created elsewhere on  www.ibm.com, please proceed to www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/softwareandservices and select "Customer sign in."
  3. If you have not been authorized to access the Software and services tool by your Primary contact, you will be sent to the Self-nomination screen and will be prompted to enter your customer information and submit your self-nomination request. You should use the Customer Site ID for this registration process in order to route to the correct Primary Contact.
  4. This request will be routed to your Primary Contact for review. You will receive an email notification from the Primary Contact when your self-nomination request has been processed.
