In addition, this mode includes a "sandbox matrix", which allows you to test the effect of a backup strategy on content before deploying it.

New enhanced GUI

Tivoli Storage Manager 6 for Microsoft® SharePoint delivers significant enhancements in the GUI, including:

• An integrated restore timeline view that shows all available recovery points irrespective of backup plan or storage location

• An integrated backup plan builder

• A tree view of the entire SharePoint environment

• A discovery dashboard that provides an overview of your system where you can see the status of your backup and recovery logs, view the upcoming plans, and see the percent of plans that have succeeded or failed in the past few days or months

Backup templates

• Support for reusable backup templates is added to assist in the standardization of common backup settings.

• Full text indexing of backup data

• Item level backup data can be indexed for easier retrieval of data on restore.

Incremental backup speed enhancement

A new fast-backup method is available to help leverage SharePoint's change logs. Backup speeds for environments experiencing small change rates can increase significantly.

Automatic data coalescing

Periodically, Tivoli Storage Manager 6 for Microsoft® SharePoint coalesces incremental backups into a new virtual full backup to help optimize backup performance.
