It helps users with storage area networks to centralize their disk storage resources to reduce administrative overhead, improve network bandwidth performance and increase ROI.
- Eliminates the one-to-one relationship between the number of SAN-connected computers and the number of disk volumes needed by those computers
- Enables sharing of centralized disk storage volumes and files by multiple computers running UNIX® and/or Microsoft® Windows® to provide higher bandwidth and lower CPU overhead than server-based sharing over an IP network
- Significantly reduces IT costs by consolidating storage space and eliminating the replicated data common to multihost environments
- Allows multiple computers to share single disk volumes transparently on the SAN-storage, producing many combinations of computers running Windows, Irix, Solaris™, AIX® and Red Hat Linux® to all share the exact same disk volumes at the same time, across platforms
- Version 3.3 provides additional operating system support, full MDC support for all host operating systems, enhanced performance for Solaris and AIX, and new application programming interfaces
