Maximize density of your virtual environment while ensuring high availability of critical workloads.
IBM® Tivoli® Monitoring for Virtual Environments (formerly IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Virtual Environments) provides capacity planning and virtualization and cloud monitoring across multiple hypervisor platforms.
- Reduction in hardware and related energy and software license costs by improving utilization and deferring purchases, while providing workload placement guidance
- Reduced labor costs spent on manual capacity analysis and planning through enhanced IBM Cognos-based, what-if analysis
- Improved application availability, using proactive problem identification features, such as predictive trending, and dynamic thresholding
- Reduced mean time to resolution by separating intermittent problems from recurring problems and by monitoring key resources across a broad set of platforms, in the same context; for example, you can visualize data IO performance side-by-side with supporting volume performance.
- Lower operating costs for management by using one tool to monitor multiple platforms.
Product framework
Capacity planning analysis & reports
Recommendations on workload placement to decrease energy and server costs while adhering to co-location policies. Provides benchmarking data (SPEC), results simulation, and a user-configurable policy framework.
Integrated Web 2.0 dashboard
Out-of-the-box integrated view of server, storage, and network components, showing physical and virtual performance and configuration change history.
Broad Hypervisor support
Support for VMware, KVM, Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and Citrix XenDesktop.
Support for physical server, storage and network elements
Monitors key performance and availability attributes of IBM System x® servers, Cisco UCS systems, and other x86 servers, network fabric health, and storage management integration (NetApp & Tivoli Storage Productivity Center).
Predictive thresholds
Tivoli monitoring provides the capability to monitor resources by establishing baseline behaviors and alerting when resources deviate from normal behavior as opposed to waiting for a static threshold (which may or may not have been correctly set) to be violated. In addition, Tivoli Monitoring provides advance (7, 30 and 90 days) warning when critical resources near capacity in dynamic virtualized environments.
Data Sheet
IBM® Tivoli® Monitoring for Virtual Environments extends the benefits of end-to-end performance monitoring in a virtualized environment by providing additional hypervisor support and capacity planning reports.
