Speaker Bios

Ross Mauri, GM, System p, IBM Systems & Technology Group

Ross Mauri is responsible for IBM's worldwide System p business, which addresses the growing $25 billion UNIX and Linux worldwide server market and leads all competitors in the UNIX segment. Mr. Mauri’s responsibilities include overall financial performance, offerings development, marketing, sales, operations and competitive programs.

Since joining IBM in 1980, Mr. Mauri has held various management positions in programming, design, development, quality assurance and marketing. In 1993, he was appointed director of the Paris-based Client/Server Computing unit overseeing strategy in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and later served as general manager of software marketing programs for EMEA. In 1995, Mr. Mauri was appointed technical assistant to IBM's Chairman and CEO. He held several executive positions in the S/390 mainframe business, including global hardware development, marketing, solutions and strategy, and led the development and marketing of IBM's UNIX and Linux initiatives. In 2003, he became vice president, development, IBM Systems Group, leading a global organization responsible for IBM's industry-leading server and storage platforms.

Mr. Mauri is a member of the IBM corporate Performance Team and Integration & Values Team, and serves on the board of governors of the IBM Academy of Technology.

He is a sponsor and participant in many diversity and next generation leadership initiatives with organizations across the IT industry, including Women in Technology, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

Bob Madey, VP, IBM Service Management Strategy

As vice president of strategy and market management at IBM’s Tivoli business unit, Bob Madey is responsible for long-term strategic planning, annual budgeting and forecasting processes. He also is responsible for integration of Tivoli’s strategy and IBM’s to coordinate companywide growth initiatives. Madey also has responsibility for market management at Tivoli and prior to this position he was vice president of development of Tivoli’s performance and availability products.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Madey joined Tivoli in January 2001 from IBM’s software group where he served as director of WebSphere market strategy and solution development for both the WebSphere and MQ product lines. Before taking that position, he acted as director of the security business line for Software Group and was responsible for product management, solution development, as well as overall strategy formulation.

A dedicated IBM employee since 1980, Madey started out as a marketing representative in Los Angeles. During his career he has held a number of technical and management positions in sales, services, consulting, marketing and development. Madey lives in the Austin area with his wife and three children. Outside of work, he spends his time boating, camping and hiking. Madey holds a Bachelor of Science degree for Indiana State University.

Jeanine Cotter, VP, IBM Global Technology Services Strategy

Jeanine Cotter's current responsibilities include defining and deploying a set of service products that focus on the innovative management, organization, technical architecture and governance of IT, while leading end to end business and technology integration to maximize the value of IT.

Prior to July 2006, Jeanine was Vice President, Business Process, Office of the IBM CIO, where she was responsible for defining and implementing a CIO-led process-based management system in collaboration with the business transformation and IT community. In addition, she instituted a Process Excellence Program, across the business transformation and IT community, based on IBM’s Lean Sigma capabilities to improve operational processes and employee productivity.

Jeanine also held the position of Vice President, Business Transformation, IBM Global Financing. As part of the executive team, Jeanine was responsible for managing worldwide investments for IT, application development and deployment, and the overall application portfolio supporting IGF's transformation to an On Demand Business.

Her other assignments included, Vice President of Web Strategy & Design for www.ibm.com, during which IBM's home page was transformed from an organizational Web site into a robust sales and support channel. Her team also led several major redesigns of www.ibm.com, implemented a Web strategy to drive the consistency and capabilities necessary to conduct business with IBM online and improved overall user experience. She also managed the worldwide internal Year 2000 readiness for Server Group and employee disbursement systems in Corporate Finance.

Philippe Jarre, VP, IBM Global Technology Services

Philippe Jarre was appointed IBM’s Global Vice President of Business Continuity and Resiliency Services (BCRS), the Business Continuity services organization of IBM Global Services in January 2005. An approximately $ 1billion division with 1500 employees, 154 Sites in 160 countries helping client to build, deploy and manage resilient infrastructure in order to stay in business after disasters.

Prior to this position, Philippe was Vice President Global Integrated Technology Services and before Executive Assistant of the IGS Senior Vice President in New York.

Philippe also served as VP for BCRS Europe and was leading the successful acquisition of Schlumberger Business Continuity in 2004. In addition, Philippe had held a number of other Executive positions including Practice Leader for the CRM Business in Europe, and Financial Services Sector Executive in France.

Philippe is graduated from Supelec (Paris) - Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité with a specialization in Telecommunication and Information Technology.

Julie Donahue, VP, IBM Global Technology Services

Julie Donahue is the Vice President of Security & Privacy Services for IBM. In her role, she is responsible for building a global portfolio of products and services that reflect the dynamic security and privacy needs of our customers. Most recently, Julie spearheaded the acquisition of Internet Security Systems.

Julie came to IBM in 2001 as part of the acquisition of Mainspring, an eBusiness strategy consulting firm. Mainspring purchased her company – Venture Forward – in 1996. Since joining IBM, Julie has held a number of customer facing roles including leading the financial services consulting and outsourcing practices. Most recently, she was Vice President of Strategy for IBM Global services –focusing on building the services business in China and India.

Julie has spent much of her career in the software industry at Cullinet Software, McCormick & Dodge, MSA and Dun & Bradstreet Software. She has also founded two software companies in the speech recognition and call center technology markets.
