Course description
IBM Tivoli Business Service Manager (TBSM) shows the health of critical business services and associated service level agreements (SLAs). With TBSM 4.2, you can target resources and actions toward the most critical and costly IT resources and issues. In this course, you will learn how to: Develop service models, Build service models, Configure service views, Work with the Tivoli Integrated Portal, Integrate with TADDM/CCMDB, Detail migration steps, Examine the new split-server architecture, and Use Tivoli Common Reporting.
Through hands-on exercises, you will use, configure, and administer TBSM 4.2.
Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to accomplish the following tasks:
- Evaluate business processes to develop service models.
- Build Service Models.
- Use and configure service views.
- Use advanced features of service models to expand model coverage.
- Use the Tivoli Integrated Portal to administer and monitor service models.
- Configure maintenance windows for managed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Configure Data Fetchers to retrieve service data from external databases.
- Configure the TEC probe to receive events from TBSM event sources, including TEC and ITM.
- Build service models using autopopulation, data fetchers, and External Service Dependency Adapters (ESDAs).
- Develop custom service views, canvases, dashboards, and pages for users.
- Configure the TBSM IBM Tivoli Monitoring Agent, both for system health and for storing historical reporting information.
- Use the TCR report capabilities of TBSM to generate historical reports.
- Administer users and groups within TBSM using LDAP.
- Use and program the TBSM Application Programming Interface (API).
- Provide infrastructure administration for the TBSM environment.
- Describe the steps necessary to configure a TBSM failover server.
- Demonstrate the steps necessary to integrate TBSM and TADDM.
- Troubleshoot operations using TBSM logs.
- Demonstrate monitor event integration with ITM and TEC event sources.
