Course description
IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact is a highly scalable analytics engine that adds event and service enrichment as well as business impact analysis for event data. This class teaches you how to deploy and administer Netcool/Impact version 5.1. Through practice exercises, key concepts are reinforced and applied in policy-building labs.
In this 4-day course you learn how to install, configure, and troubleshoot the product. Lectures are supplemented by hands-on lab exercises.
Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to accomplish the following:
- Install the components for the Tivoli Netcool/Impact product
- Use the policy-building tools
- Build Netcool/Impact policies using proper syntax and supplied action functions
- Describe how Netcool/Impact processes events from the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer

Required skills/knowledge
Students should have general system administration skills for UNIX, Linux, or Windows platforms. Knowledge of (and experience with) scripting languages or SQL is recommended, but not required. Knowledge of high-level programming languages (C, C++, Java) is not required.
