Course description
This 3-day course introduces IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler 8.5 features, environment, and terminology.
You will learn about the new features in Tivoli Workload Scheduler 8.5 and how to use the IBM Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console to manage Tivoli Workload Scheduler. You will learn how to plan, implement, monitor, and manage Tivoli Workload Scheduler objects to create a production day plan.
Job and job stream instances are designed using recovery options, dependencies, prompts, and other plan objects. You will manage changes to objects, the plan, jobs, and job streams, and you will learn how to optimize plans and troubleshoot plan problems.
Training occurs in a classroom environment (or online in an instructor-led format) with hands-on labs to reinforce concepts through production scenarios.
Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to accomplish the following tasks:
- Describe Tivoli Workload Scheduler concepts and terminology
- Describe Tivoli Workload Scheduler scheduling objects and dependencies
- Describe the concepts of event-based-driven workload processing
- Use the Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console to monitor and configure Tivoli Workload Scheduler
- Manage the current Tivoli Workload Scheduler production day plan
- Solve common problems that arise in the current plan
- Configure Tivoli Workload Scheduler objects (jobs, job streams, variables, users, prompts, resources, and calendars)
- Describe the effects that start-of-day and time zones have on Tivoli Workload Scheduler job streams
- List the steps for planning a job stream
- Submit job streams and jobs into the current plan
- Produce reports using the Tivoli Workload Scheduler command line and the Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console
- Use the command-line composer and conman commands
