Course description
The Using IBM Maximo for Oil & Gas course trains experienced oil and gas industry work planners, managers, and technicians in the processes and best practices of the IBM Maximo for Oil & Gas solution.
Note: Self-study materials will be included for review prior to course attendance.
Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to accomplish the following:
- Describe and add records to all Oil & Gas specific applications
- Identify multisite and multiorganizational implications in data setup
- Develop a prioritization matrix and add it to IBM Maximo
- Directly create a work order containing added Oil & Gas data
- Set up a preventive maintenance record containing added Oil & Gas data and use it to create a work order
- Describe the basic concepts and value of ISO 14224 standards
- Load MRO Software–provided ISO 14224 oil and gas failure codes and asset specifications into IBM Maximo
The course goal is to train experienced oil and gas industry work planners, managers, and technicians in the processes and best practices used in the IBM Maximo for Oil & Gas solution.

Who will benefit from this course
This course is intended for personnel who have a solid knowledge of and experience in work management and planning in an oil and gas organization.
Note: Participants must be specifically knowledgeable of the process for managing work in Maximo 6.
Required skills/knowledge
- Experience in navigating and using IBM Maximo 6 applications, including multisite / multiorganizational concepts, management of locations and assets
- Experience with work management in IBM Maximo 6, including the use of job plans, routes, and preventive maintenance configuration in the creation of work orders
- Solid background in common maintenance management practices of the oil and gas industry
Note: MRO Software Educational Services provides training courses for IBM Maximo navigation, use, and work management. In lieu of demonstrated experience, attendance at prerequisite training will suffice.
