An SOA helps companies be flexible while lowering the costs of application implementation and integration. It enables Web services to interoperate dynamically with one another. Since the SOA helps to hide the complexity of heterogeneous IT environments, it can combine existing environments— whetherlegacy or modern—to build up new, more complex environments, powerful and dynamic applications.
Applications built with an SOA are highly responsive to dynamic influences from the external environment, markets and the economy. An SOA makes it much less expensive for companies to link their business processes to those of their suppliers to build up powerful supply chains, for example. In short, SOA helps a business become an On Demand Business.
