Question: Why do I need the IBM Software Support Toolbar (IBMSST)?
Answer: The IBMSST offers several benefits. The largest benefit is all the time you save by using a Toolbar that centralizes the most accessed support pages for all your IBM Software. Also, you can quickly search your choice of content across all ibm.com servers using the search capabilities from wherever you are on the Web. It is fast, convenient and provides what you are looking for -- results!
Question: How much does the IBMSST cost?
Answer: The IBMSST toolbar is available free of charge.
Question: Is the IBMSST a supported offering?
Answer: No. The IBM Software Support Toolbar is being released as a "Non-Warranted" program.
What does that mean? It means we are offering this tool "As-is" without warranties, guarantees or support.
What does that really mean? Read the International License Agreement for Non-Warranted Programs (PDF) for more information.
Question: How do I report a problem or suggestion?

Question: Does the IBMSST track Web sites that I visit?
Answer: No.
Question: Does the IBMSST contain any spyware or malware?
Answer: No. The IBMSST does not collect or report back to IBM any information.

: Because the IBMSST checks for updates once a month, there may be some virus scanners or *ware detectors that may flag this as a type of *ware(spyware, malware, etc...). It is not.

Install/Uninstall
Question: I installed the IBMSST, but I do not see the toolbar. Why?
Answer: If you don't see your Toolbar installed, click the "View" menu on your browser, select "Toolbars" and click on the "IBM Software Support Toolbar" Toolbar option.
Question:How large is the IBMSST download file?
Answer: The IBMSST Toolbar download file is around than 500 KB.
Question: How do I uninstall the IBMSST?
Answer: To uninstall your Toolbar, open the Toolbar Menu by clicking the IBM logo on the Left and selecting "Uninstall Toolbar". Once you have finished, you will need to close other browser windows for this to take effect on them.

Using the Toolbar
Question: How do I add or remove Brand buttons?
Answer: To add or remove buttons, click on the IBMSST logo and select "Toolbar Options" from the Toolbar's 'Options' button menu. This will open the available Toolbar options. You can turn the buttons on or off by checking the boxes within the dialog box. A checkmark to the left of the icons indicates which items are turned on. Your changes are automatically saved in real-time.

Question: Can I show or hide my toolbar?
Answer: Yes.
1. In your browser's menu bar, go to View -> Toolbars -> IBM Software Support Toolbar. This will display or hide the IBMSST Toolbar (a check beside the item means it is active; no checkmark means it is hidden).
2. In Internet Explorer 6.x.x, you can use the built in 'Toggle button' feature. This option is in the form of a button located on your 'Standard Buttons' toolbar. If you do not see this icon, add it by using the IE customizing option.

Question: How do I update the Toolbar?
Answer: Once a month the IBMSST automatically checks for any available updates automatically. If there is an update, you will receive a notification asking if you would like to install the update. You may also manually check for updates by clicking the IBM logo on the Left and selecting "Toolbar Updates".

Question: I am using Firefox and all of the toolbar menus are empty?
Answer: This is caused by a corrupt Firefox 3 configuration. Currently the only work around is to start with a clean profile by uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox.
