Luiz Abreu, director, VALECARD

Our business is based on three pillars: the financial capacity to support the operations, an extensive network of acceptance of our cards and a robust IT infrastructure.

Jose Geraldo Ortigosa, operations manager, VALECARD
(VALECARD) has a very accelerated growth and needs to act in its niche with technology that can put it ahead of its competitors. Every day we need to be putting a new product on the market - a new variation on the market.

Ortigosa
Currently we distribute three million cards throughout all of Brazil, which are in the hands of corporate employees and we have sixty thousand merchants throughout Brazil that accept transactions made with our cards.

Ortigosa
When our client uses our card at the supermarket, a store, or in a situation where that card needs to be authorized very quickly, and we have two hundred thousand transactions per day, where we need to authorize the payment and manage this database internally. So when our client does this, we have to be available, we cannot be offline and we have to respond quickly.

Abreu
From the perspective of our clients, the high availability and the increased performance was our main motivation for this partnership with IBM

Ortigosa
When they introduced the PureFlex solution to us, we saw that not only did it give us a solution for disaster recovery, but it could also add a few more things to our infrastructure –we began to change our project. How did we do this? Well, we started looking at the cloud solution that PureFlex offers and started looking at its high availability. So when we saw that we could not only have disaster recovery, but also have a high availability for our processes, we chose to incorporate PureFlex into our infrastructure and are going to build a new data center so that it can be installed, and can assist us in both disaster recovery and high availability.

Abreu
In this new partnership with IBM, we hope to expand our product offerings. Our challenge is to make our processes more agile, bringing more automation to our clients and for our employees who perform tasks in the field, increase our performance, and market integration with VALECARD.

Ortigosa
Our project with IBM includes the IBM PureFlex System, the IBM PureFlex Enterprise, the IBM Flex System, the IBM System Storage Storwize V7000 and IBM System Storage TS3200 Tape Library.

Ortigosa
With IBM Flex System and both Intel processors and the IBM Power processors, we can increase more of our efficiency and the management of our operations.

Abreu
I think we took a big step in this initial relationship with IBM and I hope that we can count on IBM as a great partner to provide solutions that VALECARD needs to keep growing.

Ortigosa
IBM is here today, within VALECARD, bringing an innovative solution that guarantees the certainty that we have a technology that will support us, both today and in the future.
