"Using the IBM Worklight solution to develop mobile applications shortens development time and makes it possible to run applications on various devices through just one development process, reducing the time and costs of development." - Jung -Yoel Jang, founder, Finance All Solutions Co., Ltd.
Daegu Health College
Korea - Republic of
Founded in 1971 and located in Daegu, the third-largest city in South Korea, Daegu Health College is a health-focused vocational school.Approximately 7,500 students study in the college’s 21 departments, which focus on fields in health and medical care.
Daegu Health College wanted to enable its students to access college services from anywhere at any time from the mobile device of their choice.
The college used IBM® Worklight software to develop a mobile academic administration application.
The solution speeds up the development cycle for mobile applications, enabling the college to keep up with rapidly changing mobile platforms.
Founded in 1971 and located in Daegu, the third-largest city in South Korea, Daegu Health College is a health-focused vocational school. Approximately 7,500 students study in the college’s 21 departments, which focus on fields in health and medical care.
More than 30 million people in Korea use smartphones today. This trend also applies to Daegu Health College students, who want to be able to access college services from anywhere at any time. In May 2012, the college drafted a plan to support its goal of being a global leader in developing industrial workers who specialize in health and medical care. Part of this plan included offering students a range of mobile services. However, to achieve this goal, Daegu Health College needed a way to speed up its mobile development cycles. When developing websites for PCs in the past, the college worked within a schedule of about six to eight months; this meant it actually took a year from service planning to service launch. However, mobile platforms, such as those for the iPhone, Android phone and Windows Mobile phone, are updated every six months, so the college needed to move from design to launch in under six months. Daegu Health College also sought to keep its development costs down as it continued to update mobile applications and add content.
Daegu Health College worked with IBM Business Partner Finance All Solutions to implement Worklight software. The college used Worklight software to develop an academic administration work application for mobile platforms. “The IBM Worklight solution is a major technology for developing mobile applications because it uses the HTML5 and CSS3 international standard content technologies,” says Jung-Yoel Jang, founder of Finance All Solutions. “We were able to develop under the IBM Worklight solutions effectively and at very low cost. In addition to the development environment, IBM Worklight provides various adapters and connection methods, making it possible to easily connect to the various databases of Daegu Health College, and this really reduced the development period and increased efficiency.”
Finance All Solutions helped Daegu Health College gather and organize the various functions and requirements of its users; execute mobile application planning, design, development and testing; and launch the service.
• Accelerates the mobile application development cycle, enabling the college to keep up with rapidly changing mobile platforms
• Reduces the cost of maintaining and upgrading the mobile application for multiple platforms
• Enables students to look up test results and class schedules using just about any mobile device
