Kapow Technologies
Kapow Technologies is a technology company. We are a partner with IBM and we have been working for years with their Portal team. But now, we are also getting ready for Rational and working more and more with their enterprise, IT modernization software.
We all know that today, agility is key. So we have this concept of situational applications or agile business applications. You need to deliver new applications at a more rapid speed than ever. That means you cannot always rewrite the application, you have to kind of leverage all the investments you have already done in your system.
If you think about the IT modernization projects, it’s both about modernizing existing applications but it’s also a lot about adding new data sources and distributing into new presentation platforms. Kapow Technologies has a product that can wrap any web application and make it into services, so you can get programmatic access to the data and the business logic in a web application through the web front-end.
IBM software is excellent at leveraging the existing non-web-based legacy.
We can go in and leverage the web-based legacy and then with the Rational EGL tool, now, you can deploy this and not only as traditionally as like COBOL applications but also for the modern web, rich internet applications and mobile phones, which is becoming the standard way of deploying business applications today.
This is really the value we see with our customer with System z that they can now move their web applications in a sharable environment, very powerful sharable environment, and enhance collaboration and also share business process automation applications in a central way. There is a huge value now in centralizing that.
The demand of the business that’s coming from the outside, from your competitors, from the global economy will be ever changing. And having a tool like ours and others will be critical for them to be able to quickly react to business needs, to business situations, to global economy and be competitive in the market.
The mainframe is now a central way of sharing and collaboration and modern enterprises, where you can build modern applications which are both for mobile phones, web applications and so on that, could be shared and collaboratively developed using the mainframe.
