iLinkx is a cloud-based, virtual provider of critical information to emergency responders. Headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, iLinkx escalates and enhances notification in emergencies by dispatching graphics in Adobe .pdf attachments to any device that has Internet access. The event-driven service provides emergency responders, including end customers such as the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection, with the crucial information and functionality needed to efficiently respond in time-sensitive situations.

The event-driven service provides emergency responders, including end customers such as the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection, with the crucial information and functionality needed to efficiently respond in time-sensitive situations. iLinkx not only reduces notification times, it also arms responders with detailed, graphical information and functionality they need to prepare for any emergency scenario, allowing them to plan their strategy before they’re even on site.
Following the attacks in September 2001, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released a comprehensive report outlining the need for improvement of the type of information dispatched to emergency responders as well as the channels by which it is distributed. In 2007, alarm industry veteran Rodney Fox met the challenge head-on by developing a solution that provided mobile interactive graphics in an application-free environment. iLinkx was able to combine technologies in a uniform and efficient way to help increase situational awareness through detailed graphics, eliminating the challenges of disparate platforms and applications. As iLinkx began to gain market share, the company realized that to facilitate mass deployments, it needed an infrastructure that would provide increased capacity and flexibility while offering security and reliability. Because its traditional hardware infrastructure was costly and proprietary in nature, the business began looking for alternate strategies. After researching its options, iLinkx realized that moving from an in-house data center to a cloud-hosted service provider would help the business keep pace with the rapid growth it was achieving.
After researching a variety of cloud providers, iLinkx teamed with IBM to develop an effective cloud architecture that would support its environment. Combined with the hosted services of the IBM SmartCloud Enterprise platform, the iLinkx solution eliminated the need for real estate, labor and substantial systems investment necessary to maintain a traditional hardware infrastructure.
