Case Study

IBM WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration helps college meet USD70 million fund-raising objective

This US college has approximately 300 faculty and staff members who serve around 1,400 full-time, undergraduate liberal arts students.

Challenge
Fund-raising is integral to the success of today’s private colleges. To satisfy its donation objectives, this college needed to improve the productivity of staff members engaged in fund-raising campaigns. The college also wanted to integrate donor campaign information with Salesforce.com technology, the cloud-based service for CRM, as well as with its Datatel on-premises application that tracks fund-raising success.

Solution
The college met these objectives with IBM WebSphere® Cast Iron® Cloud integration, which provides preconfigured integrations for hundreds of leading enterprise and cloud applications, including the Salesforce.com solution. The WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration “configuration, not coding” approach, which requires no custom programming or deep middleware expertise, simplifies integration projects. In addition, the platform’s Easy Start feature can quickly train users to be self-sufficient.

These capabilities helped the college greatly improve its fund-raising effectiveness. Integrating donor campaign information with cloud-based CRM and on-premises financial software eliminated gaps in manual workflows, enhanced account management and improved the quality and accuracy of information. As a result, the college’s IT team was better able to support fund-raising officers in executing 59 events over nine months across numerous geographies.

Benefits
• Gained fast time to value through “no coding” integration and easy user training
• Improved account management activities and the quality and accuracy of information
• Achieved a fund-raising campaign objective of USD70 million
