Case Study

Using IBM WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration, the initial project takes just eight days

This US-based company offers solutions for the medical community, including emergency medicine and hospitals. The company produces tools and resources for recruitment, leadership, patient satisfaction and medical scheduling.

Challenge
As enterprises increasingly turn to cloud-based software, they face the challenge of managing a hybrid environment of cloud and on-premises applications. Integration is critical if enterprises are to harmonize business processes and information across the hybrid landscape and maximize their ROI.

That was the situation at this medical solutions company when it needed to perform two integration projects. In the first, the company sought to increase data quality and reliability by improving data flow between two on-premises applications, the Tangier Emergency Physician Scheduling application and the PeopleSoft for ERP solution. The integration would also better support scalability to handle recent rapid business growth. Second, the organization needed to migrate data to its new Salesforce.com cloud-based solution for CRM. Because the applications were essential to business success, the company needed
to accomplish the integrations quickly.

Solution
The company implemented IBM WebSphere® Cast Iron® Cloud integration. The solution provides everything it needed to complete data migration and application integration projects using a simplified “configuration, not coding” approach. As an added benefit, WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration includes preconfigured solutions for hundreds of leading enterprise and cloud applications, including Salesforce.com technology. With these solutions, companies can perform integrations quickly without custom programming or deep middleware expertise.

The client used these capabilities to good advantage to help gain real-time and batch integration of mission-critical information. IT staff members were highly productive using the WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud solution in keeping the development environment secure and autonomous. From start to finish, the integrations were completed in just eight days.

Benefits
· Achieved fast time to value thanks to the “configuration, not coding” approach to application integration
· Improved processes for disaster recovery through a more secure and autonomous information environment
· Gained a flexible, fluid, scalable platform to support rapid application integration
