Case Study

IBM WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration facilitates Oracle ERP technology integration in two weeks

Based in the United States, this educational products company creates merchandise, programs and services that help people tell their stories, celebrate important traditions and recognize achievements.

Challenge
To understand their customers completely, companies require the integration of disparate business systems. These include internal systems such as ERP software and external-facing systems such as customer portals. Such systems must be able to exchange information in real time if employees are to have a 360-degree view of the customer.

The organization faced this issue when it needed information in its customer portal to synchronize with master customer data in its Oracle E-Business Suite for ERP solution and with other existing applications. The company had an integration solution in place, but it was costly to maintain and slow to synchronize information between applications.

Solution
To improve its application integration, the company chose IBM WebSphere® Cast Iron® Cloud integration. The platform offers a powerful yet simple solution for data migration and application integration through a “configuration, not coding” approach. By including preconfigured integration templates and connectors, the WebSphere solution enables fast integration of Oracle ERP applications and databases with enterprise applications.

The company capitalized on these capabilities to develop a new integration architecture in rapid order. Postintegration, master customer data in the Oracle ERP system was bidirectionally synchronized with the customer portal, streamlining key workflows for immediate updates and better order management. Most important, employees now had a 360-degree view of the customer. The initial integration project was completed in just two weeks.

Benefits
· Achieved fast time to value thanks to the “configuration, not coding” approach to application integration
· Improved user productivity through a single console to track all transactions
· Capitalized on a reliable, flexible integration platform to perform 20 consecutive integration projects
