Case Study

IBM WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration enables 10-day CRM-to-ERP integration

This international company has a subsidiary in the United States that designs, manufactures and services rotating equipment, including centrifugal and axial compressors and steam turbines. Employing 2,000 people, the manufacturing subsidiary offers products and services used in the oil and gas, refining and petrochemical industries, as well as in other process and power applications.

Challenge
Today’s hybrid IT environments often require integration between on-premises technology, such as ERP applications, and cloud-based technology, such as CRM services. Because these systems handle mission-critical information and business processes, integration projects carry a high priority.

That was the situation at this manufacturing subsidiary, which needed to automate data flow between on-premises Oracle Financials for ERP software and cloud-based Oracle CRM On Demand technology. Inaccurate and time-consuming manual update processes between the two systems were damaging the business and lessening the productivity and effectiveness of sales staff and other users.

Solution
To accomplish the integration, the company chose IBM WebSphere® Cast Iron® Cloud integration. It includes an easy-to-use solution designed specifically for joining the Oracle CRM On Demand service with other applications using a “configuration, not coding” approach. This dramatically simplifies application migration and integration projects without needing specialized programmers or deep middleware expertise.

Postintegration, the company gained real-time, bidirectional integration between Oracle CRM On Demand and Oracle Financials technology. The solution involved synchronizing account information between the CRM and ERP applications and capitalizing on the multiple “bill to, ship to” addresses available in the CRM service for the sales team’s use. Using the WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration, the IT team completed the integration project in just 10 days.

Benefits
• Realized fast time to value thanks to the “no coding” approach to application integration
• Increased sales productivity dramatically using real-time access to accurate information
• Reduced expenses USD68,000 a year by eliminating manual data entry
