Case Study
IBM WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration simplifies integration with Salesforce.com solution
One of the world’s largest pharmaceutical services companies serves the United States and selected global markets from its US headquarters. Employing approximately 10,000 people, the business provides drug distribution and related services designed to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes to pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare providers.
Challenge
This pharmaceutical service company wanted to replace its customized CRM solution by migrating it to the Salesforce.com Software as a Service (SaaS) application. To achieve this goal, the organization needed to improve its data integration methodology and processes for moving data to the cloud-based solution without investing in high-cost IT specialists. In addition, the business was looking to reallocate key personnel from tactical IT activities to more strategic initiatives.
Solution
The pharmaceutical services provider met these requirements by implementing IBM WebSphere® Cast Iron® Cloud integration, which offers preconfigured integration solutions for hundreds of leading enterprise and cloud applications, including the Salesforce.com service. WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration uses a “configuration, not coding” approach to enable Salesforce.com technology customers to complete their migration and integration projects quickly. Just as the “no software experience” of the Salesforce.com application simplified sales automation, the WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud integration “no coding” approach streamlines data migration and application integration to the Salesforce.com service.
The IBM solution met the client’s objectives by providing real-time and batch integration of accounts receivable, credit and sales information, pulled in from the data warehouse. The solution then pushes this critical sales data to the Salesforce.com technology to create orders and sales quotes within e-commerce systems.
Benefits
• Enhanced data integration processes using only a single full-time IT employee as opposed to a team of high-cost specialists
• Saved USD250,000 annually and enabled 80 percent reallocation of resources to more strategic activities
• Improved ease of use and maintenance of the integration solution, further lessening dependency on high-cost resources
