Santiago Stock Exchange relies on a wide range of electronic trading and information systems as well as capital and portfolio management applications, to support its daily business operations. The organization needed to maintain the data integrity and protect the confidentiality of data generated by its core applications and systems, in order to comply with government regulations. Thus, they needed to implement a security solution that would enable it to define access policies and monitor the connections to its core systems and applications without inhibiting performance or availability.
Santiago Stock Exchange implemented the IBM InfoSphere Guardium Database Activity Monitor software. The solution facilitates comprehensive database monitoring without affecting application performance - even when there is a high level of online transaction processing. During the first phase of the implementation, the client defined acceptable data governance policies for user access to its core applications and systems. Once this was complete, the Santiago Stock Exchange applied the policies to the solution.
The InfoSphere Guardium Database Activity Monitor software helped the organization to: - Manage database access rights for end users - Monitor end users who access or make changes to data, initiate data access outside the standard hours, and initiate access via inappropriate or unapproved channels - Monitor developers, system administrators and business analysts who access the production environment - Monitor IT staff members who make unsolicited changes to databases or applications, or initiate out-of-cycle patching of production systems - Generate daily activity reports reflecting the access connections of all end users - Respond to incidents
