“With IBM Content Management software, we can now process large volumes of reports more quickly and securely and at a considerably lower cost. This helps us comply with auditing requirements and improve operational efficiency.”
— Ioannis Balabanis, Head, Business Process Division, National Bank of Greece

Founded in 1841, National Bank of Greece (NBG) is the oldest and largest Greek bank. It manages more than 9 million deposit accounts and 1.5 million lending accounts for corporate customers and private individuals.

Challenge
When NBG executives analyzed its procedures for auditing, storing and accessing financial reports, they found an inefficient system that was negatively affecting operational efficiency and compliance efforts. The bank incurred substantial charges for the production, distribution and storage of printed financial reports. Searching for archived reports could take staff hours, and sometimes days, and often required IT support. Executives also worried that printed reports could be lost, destroyed or accessed by unauthorized personnel. Auditing staff regularly visited each branch to verify adherence to bank procedures.

Solution
Using IBM Content Management software, authorized NBG staff can quickly locate, view, approve and update reports online without assistance from IT staff. Governance processes that once required lengthy onsite visits can now be completed in minutes. And by being able to rapidly deliver information to people, processes and applications, NBG can launch new self-service applications that give customers greater insight into their finances.

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for z/OS supports the collection, storing and archiving of reports generated by distributed and mainframe banking applications. The software supports 12,500 total and 700 concurrent users. IT staff can define access rights for each user to help NBG comply with regulatory and governance requirements. IBM Global Technology Services–Integrated Technology Services assisted with software installation and migration of archived reports to the IBM Content Manager OnDemand repository.
