Overview
Based in Germany, Daimler FleetBoard GmbH is a leading provider of online telematics solutions and services for commercial vehicles and logistics companies. Since its founding, the business has distinguished itself as an innovator, regularly delivering new capabilities to its customers.
Business need:
Daimler FleetBoard GmbH offers devices and telematics-based Internet services that help customers’ transport companies improve efficiencies and transparency in day-to-day haulage. To help its customers optimize planning, analysis and reporting, FleetBoard needed to improve integration of data from vehicles with the customers’ business systems. And it needed the ability to deploy new and upgraded services to the fleet without removing vehicles from service.
Solution:
Using software from IBM, the client implemented a comprehensive telematics system that helps optimize vehicle usage and routing, and enables delivery of new functionality to vehicles remotely. Users leverage the client’s DispoPilot offering, an on-board system installed in commercial vehicles, to enable efficient, dynamic route planning. And Daimler FleetBoard feeds vehicle data directly to customers to improve decision-making capabilities.
Benefits:
• Reduces fuel usage by 5 to 10 percent through dynamic reporting and derived training measures for drivers as well as analysis of maintenance and vehicle location data
• Improves decision making by integrating shipping data with the status of the actual shipment across multiple systems
• Optimizes haulage operations by enabling dynamic route planning through paperless tour management
