"Consolidating our storage and hardware infrastructures on IBM technology enables us to work with Campoverde more efficiently and cost-effectively." - Federico Gianni, CEO, Sistemi Informativi
Customer:
Sistemi Informativi
Industry:
Computer Services
Deployment country:
Italy
Solution:
Business Continuity, Optimizing IT
Overview
Sistemi Informativi handles hardware and software system projects for a variety of customers, including Campoverde, and provides application software. Located in Milan, Italy, this small business typically employs a staff of five and logs annual sales of €1 million.
Business need:
Sistemi Informativi and one of its main customers, Campoverde, worked together closely but used different IT systems, each with its own internal, proprietary storage subsystem. To simplify storage upgrades and other IT management activities, the two companies needed a new hardware infrastructure, an integrated storage subsystem and an optimized cabling solution.
Solution:
Campoverde and Sistemi Informativi implemented an IBM BladeCenter® H Chassis with three IBM BladeCenter HS21 servers running VMware Virtual Infrastructure software, an IBM System Storage™ DS4700 Express device, an IBM System Storage TS3100 Tape Library Express device and IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager Express software.
Benefits:
Improves connectivity with a simplified, consolidated infrastructure
Virtually eliminates hardware maintenance costs
Reduces the need to dedicate staff resources to IT management

The two companies also enlisted IBM Global Technology Services to perform cabling services to improve infrastructure connectivity. Additionally, Sistemi Informativi purchased a service pack for maintenance and installation services.
Applications running on the new BladeCenter platform include DNA, Radio2000, IBM Lotus® Domino® and Store2000 software. The System Storage DS4700 Express and System Storage TS3100 Tape Library Express devices store data, and the Tivoli Storage Manager Express software is used to perform data backup.
