Challenge

Winnebago Industries, Inc., one of the leading manufacturers of recreational vehicles in the United States, wanted to replace its previous e-mail system with a Linux operating system-based solution that would provide stability and support essential functionality, such as calendar-sharing. Winnebago Industries chose a solution from Bynari, Inc., an IBM Advanced Business Partner that participates in IBM Partnerworld® Industry Networks. Winnebago Industries chose Bynari because of its dependability, security features, low overhead and ease of administration.

Solution

Winnebago Industries deployed Bynari’s Insight Server on the Linux operating system running on the company’s existing IBM System z™ mainframe. Insight Server is a Linux operating system-based e-mail solution that runs on all IBM platforms and can handle thousands of users. It includes anti-spam and anti-virus protection, backup and recovery software and a complete statistics tool to monitor performance.

Bynari builds Linux operating system-based products. The attraction of Linux is that the operating system crosses all platforms, is economical for customers and offers unparalleled reliability. “Winnebago Industries is a 24/7 shop so it’s critical that their e-mail is up all the time — and that’s where Linux really shines,” said Hyun Kim, president, Bynari, Inc.
