Inspired by the principles of Giovannina Franchi, who founded the first city center in Como, Italy in 1853, the nuns of Addolorata serve the city of Como through the religiously affiliated Valduce Hospital. Dedicated to healing those who cannot pay for services at the city hospital or private home care, the hospital is composed of two branches: Valduce Hospital in Como for emergency visits and Valduce Presidio Neurorehabilitation Hospital in Costa Masnaga, which is dedicated to rehabilitation medicine for people with disabilities stemming from congenital or acquired diseases or injuries.

Business need:
Valduce Presidio Neurorehabilitation Hospital wanted to improve its level of personalized care and how it monitored the mobility of its patients throughout the hospital. Its healthcare providers needed to measure patients’ responses throughout the rehabilitation treatment process. The hospital sought a solution that would help measure the quality of patient care, the step-by-step impact of therapy, and the final treatment outcomes—with accuracy in near–real time.

The rehabilitation team can now customize and calibrate rehabilitation paths for each patient and check for any organizational dysfunction.
