IBM Business Partner:
Camar S.p.A. is an Italian designer and manufacturer of technical fittings for the furniture industry, including brackets, shelf supports, and table legs.
Camar needed a new IT solution that could deliver improved performance and reliability, and enable better integration between applications. At the same time, the company wanted to provide employees with new communication and collaboration capabilities.
Camar worked with IBM Business Partner CTA Informatica to develop a total infrastructure solution, starting with an IBM Power 525 Express server to run the company’s ERP system and to host its new Lotus Domino Express software. Camar also added seven IBM BladeCenter HS21 servers to host Citrix and Oracle applications, and an IBM System Storage TS3100 Tape Library to provide expanded backup capacity.
The IBM solution enables infrastructure consolidation, reducing IT power consumption by 50 percent; improves IT performance, reducing backup times by 30 percent; and improves scalability while reducing IT management costs.

Camar’s legacy IT infrastructure was beginning to experience performance issues, resulting in more time needed to detect failures and to perform server backups. In addition to addressing these issues, Camar wanted a new infrastructure solution that would provide better integration between applications and support new communication and collaboration capabilities.
