Overview

As one of the leading brokerage houses in India, JRG Securities Limited provides customers with top-notch financial and insurance brokerage services. The firm caters to the diverse needs of more than 200,000 customers, including individuals, institutions and money managers.

Business need:
Saddled with 15 stand-alone servers, JRG's complex data center was becoming unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming to manage. In addition, JRG lacked a centralized storage solution and instead maintained a sprawling environment of disparate disk systems. Moving forward, the firm wanted to simplify its infrastructure, but without sacrificing high availability and supreme performance levels.

Solution:
To regain control of its IT environment, JRG Securities teamed up with IBM Global Technology Services. The IBM group implemented four IBM BladeCenter® HS20 servers in a BladeCenter chassis and launched a fleet of high-performance System x™ servers. Additionally, Global Technology Services created a centralized storage environment by deploying an IBM System Storage™ DS4300 disk system, which attaches to the servers via an IBM TotalStorage® SAN Switch.

Challenge
Priding itself on its customer responsiveness, JRG Securities relies on an efficient, reliable hardware environment to support its critical business applications. But with 15 stand-alone IBM servers, its complex data center was becoming unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming to manage. In addition, JRG Securities lacked a centralized storage solution and instead maintained a sprawling environment of disparate disk systems. Moving forward, the firm wanted to simplify its infrastructure, but without sacrificing high availability and supreme performance levels.

Solution
To regain control of its IT environment, JRG Securities teamed up with IBM Global Technology Services. The IBM group implemented four IBM BladeCenter® HS20 servers in a BladeCenter chassis and launched a fleet of high-performance System x™ servers. The System x installation included two x346 servers, two x226 Express servers, an x206 server and two x306 Express servers.

Additionally, Global Technology Services created a centralized storage environment by deploying an IBM System Storage™ DS4300 disk system, which attaches to the servers via an IBM TotalStorage® SAN Switch. The storage solution also connects to an IBM TotalStorage 3580 Tape Drive Express Model device, which performs daily backups of critical data.
