Case Study
Challenge
The Moroccan ministry of Youth and Sports was using email messaging hosted by a local telecom operator. Unfortunately, the system meant that the Ministry received a lot of spam. And the reliability of the system was dependent on the stability of the internet connection of the telecom operator. It was important for the Ministry, as a branch of the government, that its data was secure and safe. It also wanted a system that would provide genuine collaborative capabilities for its mobile workers and associates.
Solution
Its search for a security-rich messaging platform with strong collaboration capabilities led the Moroccan Ministry of Youth and Sports to IBM Business Partner CollabSys, which deployed IBM Lotus Domino software v8.5.1 for a messaging server cluster and simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) architecture. CollabSys also deployed IBM Lotus Notes software v8.5.1 as the messaging client, IBM Sametime software v8.0 for instant messaging on a rich client, IBM Lotus Notes Traveler software v8.5.1 for mobile synchronization, and IBM Lotus iNotes software v8.5.1 to manage information from outside the ministry.
Benefits
- Eases the transition from simple email to a truly collaborative environment for messaging, calendaring and scheduling
- Lets the client manage and administer its own servers, archive and backup
- Enables mobile members of the organization to access email and share documents
