Case Study
CACEIS is an international bank with operations in 11 countries. A member of the Crédit Agricole Group, CACEIS primarily serves other banks and financial institutions.
Challenge
As a result of several acquisitions, CACEIS development efforts were spread out among three primary sites in France, Germany and Luxemburg. The company must also maintain two development teams: an open platform team that develops using the Java™ programming language on IBMWebSphere® Application Server software running on the UNIX® technology-based platform; and a mainframe team that develops in the COBOL programming language on the IBM System z® platform. CACEIS needed to improve communication between the open platform and mainframe teams. It was having difficulty combining components from the two teams to create its applications, delaying product releases and driving up development costs.
Solution
CACEIS implemented IBM Rational Team Concert™ software. Based on the IBM Jazz™ platform, the Rational® application supports geographically distributed teams by providing communication in context, event feeds, integrated chat and automated traceability. Facilitating communication between the company’s two development teams helps reduce inconsistencies between open platform and mainframe components. In addition to providing a more modern, intuitive interface for the company’s mainframe developers, Rational Team Concert software delivers dashboards and reports to help projects stay on track, work items to help track changes through the development lifecycle and advanced source control functionality that supports component-based development.
Benefits
● Improves communication and collaboration between development teams, resulting in greater productivity and reduced costs
● Reduces the time required to debug applications through a common communication platform, improving operational efficiency
● Helps increase revenue potential with shortened time to market for new product development
