Financiera Independencia provides microcredit loans on an unsecured basis primarily to individuals in low-income segments of Mexico’s urban areas. The oldest microfinancing company in Mexico, the organization serves more than 1.6 million customers and has additional operations in Brazil and San Francisco.

Challenge
After a decade of exceptional growth, Financiera Independencia had become the largest microfinancing company in Mexico. The organization’s business processes, however, were not structured to provide the agility it needed to maintain that leadership position in what has since become a highly competitive personal credit and microcredit market. To remain competitive, Financiera Independencia needed to innovate, identify emerging customer demands and respond by quickly bringing new, more lucrative offerings to market.

Because of the recent acquisitions, its IT staff grappled with integrating and optimizing diverse customer bases, technology platforms, applications and operating cultures.
