Yulon Motor Co., Ltd. (Yulon Motor) is one of the largest car manufacturers in Taiwan. Best known for building Nissans under license, the company is primarily engaged in the manufacturing and selling of automobiles and related parts for Nissan, Renault, Buick, Infiniti, Cadillac and Opel brands in Taiwan. Yulon Motor sells about 75,000 vehicles each year and employs about 6,500 people. The company’s mission is to eventually develop an indigenous auto industry in Taiwan.

Business need:
In order to remain a leader in the auto industry, Yulon Motor needed to provide customers with more than a superior automobile. The company sought to heighten driver and passenger experience not only while traveling, but before and after a car trip as well. Yulon Motor needed to ensure that content was accessible through a variety of sources capable of wireless and two-way interactive communication.

Solution:
Yulon Motor initiated the iMove Travel Network, an on-board trip experience-sharing platform based on IBM hardware, software and services that enables users to download intelligent information and offer feedback to the iMove travel community. The devices use a set of effective mechanisms designed to harness collective intelligence and ensure the trustworthiness of the information provided.
