Since 1959, the Federação das Santas Casas e Hospitais Beneficentes do Estado de São Paulo (Fehosp) has been a leading promoter of improved healthcare in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The umbrella healthcare organization represents over 480 nonprofit healthcare providers throughout the state and is a tireless advocate for improving healthcare. Member organizations rely upon Fehosp to supply metrics and assist with creating standards vital to improving the healthcare quality and efficiency.

The Need
Fehosp needed a way to capture and drill down into key hospital performance indicators throughout the network. These metrics needed to be easily accessible by member healthcare groups so they could make better administrative, medical and financial decisions critical to increasing efficiency and the quality of services.

The Solution
Fehosp implemented a business intelligence (BI) solution that evaluates key performance indicators of 22 member hospitals in an ambitious pilot program. Fehosp and participating member organizations can now analyze and monitor key hospital performance indicators covering operational, medical and human resources metrics, which helps improve decision-making processes.

What Makes it Smarter
• Calculates costs of key performance indicators in real time so administrators in the healthcare network can improve efficiency and service
• Links data and record keeping systems to create an online repository of performance indicators, which administrators can easily access
• Captures and scrubs raw operational and medical data from multiple hospitals; data is then fed into the BI system for analysis
