Bizerba’s global financial reporting structures were neither unified nor standardized in terms of their technology and content. Data collection was very time consuming, with a high rate of manual effort and inconsistent data between different country organizations and product groups.

Bizerba needed a single and unified financial reporting and data management solution so that it could produce its financial reports faster and in a more efficient manner.

Bizerba engaged IBM Global Business Services to implement a standard reporting and data collection solution. The IBM team also provided integration with the SAP Source Systems in different countries.

Bizerba is a worldwide operating technology company having a leading market position in many branches regarding professional system solutions in the field of weighing, information, communication and food service technology. With around 2,600 employees, 16 country subsidiaries and 69 national representatives worldwide, Bizerba GmbH & Co. KG turned over approximately €343 million in 2004. Their export content is at 55.6%, and research and development (R & D) investments at 5.8%. Bizerba's headquarters are situated in Balingen (Germany). The production plants for the food service machines are in Meßkirch and paper and labels are manufactured in Bochum.
Business challenge
Bizerba’s financial reporting structures were neither consistent nor standardized in terms of their technology and content. Therefore, the data collection required to produce various reports was both highly manual and error-prone. The data were not consistent and benchmarks between different product groups and company units were not possible.
Bizerba needed a single financial reporting and data management solution so that it could produce more accurate financial reports in a more efficient manner.
Solution
Bizerba engaged IBM Global Business Services to implement a standard reporting and data collection solution. The solution chosen was SAP Netweaver 7.0 BI (business intelligence). The IBM team also provided integration with the SAP Source Systems in different countries on the base of SAP Release 4.6c. IBM provided activation of standard business content in almost all SAP Modules, a Fit-Gap Analysis, extensions where needed for customer enhancements, definition of an unique reporting structure, along with an authority concept plus a programming and transport concept. Finally, IBM provided Web Front End development.
