Maxis Mobile Sdn Bhd
Maxis is Malaysia's leading telecommunications company. Based on the results obtained from a Human Resources employee satisfaction survey, Maxis employees rated Maxis Managers’ people management skills lowest.
Maxis decided it needed to develop a stream of capable managers, with consistent values and ways of approaching personnel management across the Maxis organization.
By adapting the IBM Management Development solution for Maxis from existing assets, IBM Global Business Services was able to provide the most efficient process for implementing and deploying the program to 300 managerial learners.
The project was completed with a total of 4500 learning days for the entire group of 300 learners. The most distinct improvements were demonstrated in collaboration, communication and leading change competencies.
Maxis is Malaysia's leading telecommunications company and market leader with more than 7 million mobile phone subscribers. Maxis provides high-quality voice and data services to its customers. Its mobile postpaid and prepaid services are offered under the Maxis and Hotlink brands respectively. Maxis also offers domestic fixed line and international gateway services. Its broadband infrastructure includes fiber optic, microwave and VSAT technologies.
Based on the results obtained from an HR employee satisfaction survey, Maxis employees rated Maxis Managers’ people management skills lowest. Maxis decided it needed to:
- Develop a stream of capable managers, having the same values and way of doing things, by providing a consistent language and cultural messages between managers.
- Inculcate a common way of approaching personnel management that would be consistent across the Maxis organization.
Maxis engaged IBM Global Business Services to implement and deploy a Management Development program to 300 managerial learners. IBM provided ongoing project management, technical direction, framework for project planning, risk management, communications, reporting, procedural and contractual activity.
IBM’s Management Development solution is largely based on an existing IBM owned asset which has been internationally proven. By adapting the solution for Maxis from existing assets IBM was able to provide the most efficient process. The IBM approach for developing and implementing this solution was driven by an integrated methodology including well-established project management and technical delivery methods.
After a Behavior Change Assessment was conducted, the most distinct improvements were demonstrated in collaboration, communication and leading-change competencies.
Business Projects have shown improvements in achieving business objectives that are linked to leadership competencies by improving people management and personal effectiveness. Therefore, the solution is helping participants to achieve better performance scores.
