You have to rely on up-to-date infrastructure to give better service; I mean competition is all based on technology.

We became the second largest private bank in Turkey. This heavily depends on the technology. The philosophy is, let’s invest in automation, let's invest in technology, and let’s invest in people.

System z is at the heart of the system, when I say system, I mean all chained applications, processes and things like that network.

In two racks, in two machines, we handle around 200 million transactions per day in the peak days and we are getting response around 0.06 seconds as an average.

We have consolidated our operations from branches to our operation center in a centralized way, so that we are quite fast and the branches are more, almost 100% working with their customers on sales wise. So our sales force, can go and find new customers and new segments.

We have probably tripled the MIPS capacity for the last five years. We have tripled probably storage capacity. We have doubled the number of LPARs; I mean our vertical is growing heavily. But we have the same IT staff and we are bringing a lot of more capacities in z world.

Our cost per transaction is dropping every time we increase our capacity.

One of the most important aspects of running a data center would be the floor space, of course, I mean you cannot virtualize floor space, it's finished, the wall is there. What I see from the z is that in two racks, it can handle millions of transactions, actually 100 millions of transactions and within the same rack, you can go double, triple, quadruple of workload within the same rack, so it's very powerful using the less energy and especially less floor space.

We are planning to bring our WebSphere applications, the internet branch applications to front-end to IBM z environment. Our plan is to bring as much as possible, I can't say every workload, but as much as possible that are integrated with mainframe technologies to bring into this environment.

You have to give better service and to give better service, I think the availability of the machine, the power of the machine is quite important. It's fast, available, and scalable.
