Socio Logiciels is a research firm specializing in the processing and analyzing of survey and database data – primarily for other research companies and advertisers. The company works in five specialized areas:

    • Processing and analysis of survey data
    • Implementation of IT applications (automation, databases and request tools)
    • Data mining
    • Management indicator and survey result visualization
    • Training in a broad range of analytical techniques

Because much of its work is performing the “heavy lifting” for other research companies, Socio Logiciels has set a high standard for itself, wanting to use the most advanced software tools for statistical analysis.

“Our customers need proven models backed up by the in-depth marketing expertise required to make those models work. They rely on Socio Logiciels for the statistical element, but aren’t very interested in the software aspects. What does interest them is what they can do with the results, and the return on investment that those results will deliver,” explains Thierry Valaud, Head of Data Mining at Socio Logiciels.

To be the most statistically advanced
Socio Logiciels provides simple and complex processing of more than 150 descriptive, explanatory and predictive surveys every month. To accomplish this daunting task, the firm has turned to IBM SPSS statistical software, including IBM® SPSS® Text Analytics for Surveys.

“As ‘consultants to consultants,’ we’re challenged to offer the most statistically-advanced techniques to our clients. IBM SPSS software encompasses almost all of our statistical modeling needs. The software is intuitive, easy to use and is a good value for the money, said Valaud.

Today, it’s all about predicting behavior patterns
Needs of Socio Logiciels’ customers have become more sophisticated over time. No longer are customers satisfied with simple head counting. Today, they’re demanding Socio Logiciels be able to identify links between attitudes and behavior – and to highlight structures within data to identify distinct typologies. And predicting behavior patterns requires powerful predictive analytical software tools. “IBM SPSS software enables us to provide this new level of analysis,”
said Valaud.

Creating value by combining systems with expertise
According to Valaud, IBM SPSS statistical software are powerful tools that indirectly make Socio Logiciels more competitive: “The software doesn’t actually contribute directly to the competitiveness of Socio Logicels,” said Valaud. “But it’s the combination of consultancy with modeling expertise facilitated by IBM SPSS software that makes the software an important part of the Socio Logiciels value chain. We insist on quality for the benefit of our customers, so the use of effective tools like IBM SPSS software, combined with high-end expertise, allows us to deliver that quality. So it is very much the combination of tools and expertise that creates the value.”
