Using Archive Manager for z/VM, you can archive only the data you need to retain according to your specific business needs.

Archive Manager's comprehensive features provide the ability to:

  • Archive CMS files, or entire minidisks, to a choice of target media (disk or tape)
  • Consolidate archived files onto minidisk, SFS, or tape-based storage
  • Produce track-image snapshots of CKD DASD which contains minidisks of CMS or non-CMS data
  • Create point-in-time snapshots of CMS files from minidisk or SFS
  • Archive files to a staging disk before they are placed on tape, allowing you to quickly archive data without having to wait for a tape mount
  • Archive, list, and retreive files with mixed case filenames or filetypes
  • Perform detailed searches of files by:
    • Filename
    • Filetype
    • UserID
    • Disk address or directory
    • Date created
    • Date archived
    • Expiration date
  • Share access to archived files at the file level, share access to all archived files owned by a specific user ID, or share archived files with groups
  • Specify a retention period for archived files
