Going to Impact 2011? Sunday, April 10

This day is dedicated to IBM Business Partners, while the evening brings all Impact attendees together to network face-to-face.

Business Partner Summit
Spend the day at keynotes and breakout sessions for IBM Business Partners to discuss strategy and business opportunities. Participate in a Cloud Workshop. Wind down from 4 – 5 p.m. at the Business Partner Café in the Solution Center, while you learn about programs to help sales, or meet one-on-one with experts in your area of interest. The Café will also be open Monday through Wednesday. Meet our Impact Business Partner sponsors during the week at the Solution Center.

Solution Center Welcome Reception
All Impact attendees are invited to have cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at the 5 - 8 p.m. grand opening. Solution experts at the center will answer your questions, and the exhibits and demos will illustrate the offerings from IBM and Business Partners. Monday, May 11 – Transform for growth

General Session

The main conference begins with an emphasis on helping you transform to grow your business effectively in today’s business environment, where change, complexity and uncertainty are the new normal. Impact explores the changes required to drive growth and deliver results through a strategy embraced by both business and IT. You’ll learn the capabilities needed to build business agility, and the emerging technologies to watch.

Guest speakers from Caterpillar and Children’s Hospital Boston will share their experiences and best practices. Conference host Nancy Pearson, vice president of WebSphere Marketing, and David Farrell, vice president of WebSphere Sales, will show you how to get the most out of Impact.

Jon IwataJon Iwata, senior vice president of IBM Marketing and Communications, will describe how IBM continually transforms itself, as IBM celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Marie WieckMarie Wieck, general manager of IBM Application and Integration Middleware, will explain the role that new technology is playing in helping businesses innovate today.

Larry MillerVersatile stand-up comedian and actor Larry Miller, who has appeared in more than 100 films and television shows, including Seinfeld and Law & Order, will present the lighter side of technology transformation.

Forbes Business Leadership Forum

In this two-day forum, explore all the ways business can leverage technology for better results. The Forum is being hosted by Forbes Magazine Publisher Rich Karlgaard and National Editor Quentin Hardy (link resides outside of ibm.com). The forum will also help attendees build leadership skills and foster breakthrough thinking. Topics for marketing executives will explain how to add science to the art of marketing.

In the opening mini-main tent, Karlgaard will explore how today’s economy has shifted from the Great Recession to the Great Restructuring, and give the top ten attributes of success for companies that thrive in such challenging environments. Hardy will moderate a panel discussion with guests from Cars.com, Ascendant Technology and Forrester Research. Acclaimed authors, entrepreneurs and technologists will speak at the Forum about critical business issues in more than 40 sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

Technology Program
The Technology Program offers more than 500 technical education sessions and certification testing (PDF, 47.26KB) all week. Gain valuable skills to apply on the job, work hands-on with new technologies, and talk with the experts.

Smarter Commerce Mini-Main Tent and Networking Lounge
Hear the value of Smarter Commerce from Mike Rhodin, senior vice president of IBM Software Solutions Group, Frank Kern, senior vice president of IBM Global Business Services, and Craig Hayman, general manager of IBM Industry Solutions. Rhodin will also lead a panel discussion with clients.

Smarter Commerce is also featured in the Business program, where you can learn strategies for business growth andSmarter Commerce and Exceptional Web Experience, and Connectivity and Integration.

Visit the Sterling Commerce Customer Networking Lounge, open Monday through Thursday, to network with your peers and meet Business Partners, analysts, IBM executives and members of our product teams.

Meet the Authors
Purchase books in the IBM Bookstore Monday through Thursday and have the authors sign them. General Session guest speakers like Larry Miller, Scott Klososky and Geoffrey Moore will sign their books following their presentations. Check the schedule in the bookstore for all of the business and technology expert authors.

Solution Center Networking Reception
Network with peers and enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The center will also be open before the reception from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday.


Tuesday, April 12 – Proven roadmaps to business agility

General Session

Katie LinendollToday’s Emcee is Katie Linendoll (link resides outside of ibm.com), Emmy-winning tech expert seen on CBS’ The Early Show and on CNN. Linendoll is known as the "Chic Geek."

Steve MillsSteve Mills, senior vice president and group executive of IBM Software and Systems, will describe the foundational elements for your 21st-century business, illustrating how business agility and process integrity can be combined to create long-term success and profitability.

Phil GilbertPhil Gilbert, vice president of IBM Business Process Management, will unveil an exciting announcement, and demonstrate how to transform processes and increase business agility with the IBM BPM portfolio.

Kerrie HolleyKerrie Holley, IBM Fellow and CTO in Global Business Services, will join the discussion with Gilbert to highlight a new methodology for combining technology with expertise to generate successful business outcomes.

Frank KernFrank Kern, senior vice president, IBM Global Business Services, will host a panel discussion with representatives in IT and line-of-business roles from Nationwide Insurance and Verizon Wireless. They will discuss how they’ve aligned business and IT to achieve business agility and growth.

Scott KlososkyScott Klososky, author of “Velocity Manifesto,” will open the door to the future of business and technology with his thoughts on how ideas lead to success and how business agility helps drive roadmaps for future-proofing.

Cloud: A New Paradigm in Business Technology
At this mini-main tent, Robert LeBlanc, IBM senior vice president of Middleware Software, will share IBM’s perspective on cloud computing and its vision for the future. Listen to the panel discussion with clients about how they are using cloud technologies not only for IT cost savings, but also to deliver value to customers, employees and citizens in entirely new ways.

Forbes Business Leadership Forum
Participate in business leadership sessions on the second and final day of the Forum with thought leaders in business, government and academia. Learn what peers in your particular industry are doing to enhance productivity, structure change, and drive growth.

Women’s Panel and Reception
Listen to a panel discussion from 5:15 – 6 p.m. on the rewards (and risks) of taking smart risks in your career. Guest panelists are executives from IBM, Nationwide Insurance, Forrester Research, and today’s General Session Emcee Katie Linendoll. Join host Marie Wieck and panel moderator Zarina Stanford, IBM Director in Software Group Sales. After the panel, enjoy appetizers, cocktails and networking with your peers at the reception. Men are welcome to join the panel and reception.

Club Impact Special Event
Relax and enjoy food, drink, networking, games and dancing to the hot band and DJ from 7 – 10 p.m.


Wednesday, April 13 – Taking innovation to the edge

General Session

Beth Smith, vice president of IBM WebSphere Software, will introduce today’s session on the benefits of taking your application innovation to the edge of business, including how to unlock the value of information, ease the transformation with SOA, and build on a solid foundation. She will be joined by a guest speaker from ESPN and these technical experts:

Geoffrey MooreGeoffrey Moore, high-technology consultant and author of “Crossing the Chasm,” will lead a discussion on innovation in business.

Jerry CuomoJerry Cuomo, vice president, WebSphere chief technology officer and IBM Fellow, will discuss solutions for taking application innovation to the edge.

Dan WolfsonDan Wolfson, distinguished engineer and chief architect in IBM Information Management, will explore unlocking the value of information to deliver application innovation.

Rob HighRob High, IBM Fellow and SOA Foundation chief architect, will look into the future at the next generation of service oriented architecture.

All-Star Tweet Up
Network and tweet with your "social" online connections at the Tweet Up 5:15 - 6:30 p.m. in the Social Media Lounge. Join Ray Wang, CEO of Constellation Research and author of the enterprise software blog “A Software Insider’s Point of View.” Meet IBM's Marie Wieck, Nancy Pearson, Social Media Team and key tweeps. WebSphere Unconference for Developers
Developers and other technical professionals set the agenda for this program from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. You can submit and vote on topics for the Unconference now by visiting this web page or during the Impact event by going to the Unconference desk in the Solution Center entrance. At the Unconference, you can join in the discussions, present topics and network with attendees.

Educational sessions and certification testing
Technology Program sessions and certifications (PDF, 47.26KB) will continue until the conference ends around noon on Friday.
The Product Technology Center remains open for technical networking through Friday morning.

Open on Monday through Friday morning to provide a central hub for scheduled and informal discussions with our technical experts, meeting the product management and development teams, and trying new products or new versions of products you currently use.

Visit the Global WebSphere Community (GWC) (link resides outside of ibm.com) room at Impact to join the community and be entered in the daily prize drawing. Attend sessions to learn how the GWC can benefit you.
