Education to get started with SOA
The escalating demand for SOA can be daunting for companies looking to hire experienced IT practitioners with SOA skills. A significant number of today's IT workers do not have experience with the technologies that are the foundation for an SOA. This skills gap can impede and delay deployments among all but the most forward businesses. Quickly building skills is a requirement to keep pace with the competition.
IBM WebSphere Education helps you get going quickly via our Web-based training series. Taken as a whole, the series provides a solid foundation for recognizing, evaluating, and proposing your company's SOA needs. Start with the complimentary course VW003 Introducing the Value and Governance Model of Service-Oriented Architecture and round out your introduction with two additional Web-based training modules focusing on SOA governance, technologies and standards. These Web-based courses are available at no charge!
As a complement to Web-based training, you can also take advantage of these introductory resources:
Get Started with Your Smart SOA™ Training
IBM has developed a set of guiding SOA principles — the Smart SOA™ approach (PDF, 245KB) — based on experiences from working with more than 5700 customers using IBM's SOA offerings. WebSphere Education offers three primary education opportunities to immerse yourself in concentrated and focused classroom education that can build development and deployment skills for Smart SOA solutions at your organization.
Governing an SOA Implementation
SOA governance guides how businesses make key decisions regarding the successful implementation and management of their SOA. With IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository, organizations can more effectively manage the selection, invocation, governance and reuse of services. A set of two new WebSphere Service Registry and Repository courses can enable you to publish, find, enrich, mange, and govern services in your SOA, and can help you maximize the business value of your SOA.
Implement an SOA with IBM Software product training
Through over 3000 SOA engagements, IBM has learned that companies think about SOA in terms of a life cycle: model, assemble, deploy, manage, and governance. Each of these steps is supported by carefully selected components of the IBM software portfolio. IBM Training offers hundreds of flexible training options from Web-based to classroom courses that develop core skills for the IBM software products that will underpin your SOA solution.
