Packaged Service for Integrating IBM Rational Team Concert with an IT Application

As you adopt IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) within your organization, there will be a need to integrate RTC work items with other IT Applications (ITA). Examples would be members of a test and validation group using a legacy defect tracking application, a call support center using an application to track customer requests, or any application that you want to share data with RTC, but not require individuals to learn or move to RTC at this time. If you don’t have an automated integration in place, manual processes must be used to keep data in sync. Over time, this manual integration becomes error prone. The IBM Rational Integration Engineering team has developed a solution for swiftly integrating RTC work items with an ITA and has packaged the solution into a service offering.

The packaged service offering includes planning, implementation, and deployment activities designed to deliver an integration solution that is quickly operational. The offering includes the IBM Integration Engineering API (IIEAPI) for IBM Rational Team Concert service asset, an API library that simplifies the Jazz Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration layer.

The service activities will occur over a 15 day period and includes:

• A project kick-off and solution planning meetings. The requirements of the solution will be defined and integration design trade-offs between RTC and the IT Application will be discussed with you. These meetings will cover the usage model workflow, attribute and value mappings, state mappings, ownership and mastership decisions, and administration topics.
• A working session to assist in configuration of the test environment.
• The IIEAPI will be delivered and validated against your RTC test server and a specific project area configuration.
• An agile approach to delivery of the solution; delivered over several iterations during the engagement allowing your team to confirm the solution as it progresses.
• The integration, a Java program, including source on final delivery.
• Additional services can be purchased to help you setup and validate your development environment so you can extend and validate your solution. These services focus on detailed walkthrough of solution source and jUnit tests that assist in validation of the solution.
