Businesses of today are becoming increasingly innovative and are helping to transform the world we live in. Every business is becoming a software business. It’s hard to think of an industry that is not undergoing transformation. Whether you’re in an industry that has traditionally been considered high tech, such as electronics, or one that has been considered low tech, such as the steel industry, your industry is being transformed by the forces of a Smarter Planet. Software has become the “invisible thread” that speeds the innovation needed to compete, differentiate, and succeed.

The software-driven innovation agenda is upon us all. Innovate 2010 is the conference that puts software development, delivery, and management where it belongs – on center stage. Innovate 2010 is the place to expand and deepen skills, offering you inspiring keynotes from industry-leading innovators, some of IBM’s top executives, and successful customers speaking in their own words. This year’s all-new, rebooted conference will deliver more access to more of the IBM software that you need to create the Smarter Products that will help us take full advantage of this instrumented, interconnected, intelligent world. Lets build a Smarter Planet -- together!

This year’s conference focuses on the critical role you play in creating, sparking, and delivering innovation. Customers and partners bring their real success stories to the stage, showing how the global collaboration required to build a Smarter Planet is happening right here, right now. Scott Hebner delivers the Software-driven Innovation Agenda, highlighting how the “invisible thread” of software connects us as our digital world converges with the physical.

Scott invites Eaton’s VP and General Manager Dimitri Kazarinoff and UPS’ Environmental Fleet Manager Robert Hall to join a Client Showcase showing how Rational software is helping Eaton provide a new generation of energy efficient trucks for UPS. Rational software is at the heart of this ‘smart product’ – the world’s first hydraulic hybrid delivery vehicle. This innovative technology has been shown by the EPA to improve fuel efficiency by an amazing 60-70% and reduce CO2 emissions by 40%.

Dr. Danny Sabbah illustrates how effective software and systems delivery is a strategic business mandate that can differentiate companies and re-shape entire industries. He introduces “econometrics" – a foundation for managing software and systems delivery as a dynamic business process that helps companies reduce cost and risk while achieving greater levels of innovation and improved return from their software investments.

Harish Grama will update us on how IBM Rational leverages its own tools to add value to the Rational business strategy and succeeds in measured improvements in software delivery through effective organizational collaboration, automation, and reporting.

Robert LeBlanc will focus on how the emerging IT delivery model of cloud computing and integrated solution stacks can significantly reduce IT costs while increasing flexibility to improve workload optimization and the delivery of services.

All of this, plus innovative music from the amazing vocobeat group Naturally 7. And a personal tour of the wild (and sometimes weird) world of innovation and invention with the Innovation Insider, “Gadget Nation” guru Steve Greenberg.

Babcock Ranch - Southwest Florida's city of tomorrow

Don't miss Jon Iwata, the father of IBM's Smarter Planet initiative, discuss the "Decade of Smart" and how we can collectively build a Smarter Planet. As our planet becomes more instrumented, intelligent and interconnected, it offers incredible opportunities and challenges for businesses and institutions around the world. As software technology becomes infused in almost everything, there’s no limit to what can be made more intelligent, more productive and more effective. How do we collectively build a Smarter Planet? Jon Iwata will address the transformation we’ve observed over the last 18 months and share his thoughts on what’s next.

Scott Hebner returns to discuss the importance of deploying an enterprise wide strategy to drive innovation where partners, suppliers and customers can all collaborate effectively. He will introduce Syd Kitson, Chairman and CEO of Kitson & Partners, the designers of Babcock Ranch – South Florida’s “City of Tomorrow" - a truly smart city being build from the ground up! The team behind Babcock Ranch is working with IBM to design a “living laboratory” where physical and digital technologies converge. The design for Babcock Ranch represents a comprehensive “System of Systems” architecture, where components are interconnected and mutually supportive.

IBM’s Meg Selfe, Vice President, Complex & Embedded Systems, will then address the “how” behind this software that is forming intelligent systems of systems. Meg will speak to how we’re enabling our clients to design, deliver and manage the lifecycle of their smarter products and systems. She will then lead an interactive discussion with a panel of our customers, spanning different industries, who will discuss the role of innovation in their organizations.

Steve Mills, the leader of IBM's Software Group, returns to this year’s conference to update you on IBM's software strategy and what we are doing to deliver smarter software for a Smarter Planet, including our efforts to help you integrate your software investment, design and delivery processes end-to-end across your business, development and operations teams for maximum success. He will also discuss his thoughts around the importance of developing an enterprise architecture to manage change and optimize organizational effectiveness.
