Key Features of WebSphere Voice Toolkit
Provides the ability to create applications for the VoiceXML 2.1 application programming model and voice technologies. Enables testing grammars with and analyzing the recognition accuracy of a WVS 6.1.1 MRCP server.
The Communication Flow Builder-a graphical tool for visual composition of a voice application, based on GEF (Graphical Editing Framework) technology. The concept is similar to that of a flowchart diagram, with nodes, links, and decision points. The palette of nodes can be used to describe the flow of most VoiceXML applications.

This tool provides an easy to use way to design and prototype a voice application by someone who is not familiar with VoiceXML programming, for proof-of-concept demonstrations and generation of executable VoiceXML code. One will be able to construct the entire application visually, test the flow, create grammars and prompts, and produce reports and metrics based on analysis of the call flow.Call Control eXtensible Markup Language (CCXML) editor: The CCXML Editor extends the base XML editor to provide a development tool for CCXML (Call Control) markup, for purposes of creation and modification of CCXML documents. This editor provides a set of functions similar to the VoiceXML editor (Preference management, formatting, validation, etc.) except it is based on the proposed CCXML standards. For more information about CCXML, see http://www.w3.org/TR/ccxml/.
The Transcription tool allows editing of transcription information for audio files from the Voice Trace Analyzer or Batch Grammar Test tool for further statistical analysis of the accuracy
Grammar Weighting Tool allows users to weight their grammars files based on user-collected data
Variable DTD - The ability to specify an XML DTD file has been added to all of the XML based editors (VoiceXML, CCXML, and SRGS XML). This allows the user to validate and provide Content Assist based on the actual DTD that will be used by their deployed application.
Support for WebSphere Voice Server MRCP (Media Resource Control Protocol) capabilities including:
- Lexicon Editor provides a development tool for Lexicon markup, for purposes of creation and modification of pronunciation files. This editor provides a set of functions similar to the VoiceXML editor (Preference management, formatting, validation, etc.) except it is based on the proposed Lexicon standards. For more information about the Lexicon markup language, see www.w3.org/TR/2001/WD-lexicon-reqs-20010312/
- Conversion utilities can be used to take the existing Voice Toolkit pronunciation files and convert them to the new Lexicon format. This provides the user with automated migration functions for pool files and exception dictionaries, automating the transition of pronunciations to the MRCP environment. In addition, the VoiceXML and Grammar editors will now provide a "Generate Pronunciation File" menu option in the Unknown Pronunciation view, which will generate a Lexicon file with only the words from that list.
- MRCP Grammar Test Tool that allows a grammar to be tested using the MRCP Server protocol provided by WebSphere Voice Server. This includes the capability for bulk audio file testing - showing semantic interpretation results, n-best matches, and confidence scores. The Batch Grammar Test tool provides additional functionality for the processing of large datasets and comparison of previous results.
