Revised Passport Advantage Agreements

open doors to new opportunities for IBM Business Partners

IBM Software Subscription and Support
Revised Passport Advantage agreements bring multiple sets of existing terms together and offer Passport Advantage Express clients the option to migrate to Passport Advantage.

What the revised Agreements mean for IBM Business Partners

The 18 July 2011 revisions to the Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express Agreements provide you with an ideal opportunity to reconnect with your clients to:

  1. Review the changes to the Agreements
  2. Explain how the integration of commonly used terms and concepts, including virtualization [sub-capacity] licensing, SaaS and specialized IBM Appliances, into the base Agreements may impact them
  3. Discuss the potential benefits that the removal of the 500-point entry requirement for Passport Advantage offers to customers who may not have qualified previously for enrollment in Passport Advantage
  4. Explore whether the time is right for your customers to enroll in Passport Advantage or to migrate Passport Advantage Express entitlements to an existing Passport Advantage Site

Key talking points

  1. Consolidated billing for IBM Software Subscription and Support (S&S) renewals, based on a single anniversary date
    • makes it easier for your customers to predict and manage costs for upgrades and support
    • helps you manage your revenue forecast more accurately
    • reduces the need to reconcile and process multiple renewals throughout the year– saving you and your clients administrative time, effort and expense
  2. Elimination of the 500 point entry requirement for Passport Advantage
    • offers your customers the option to enroll in Passport Advantage or to migrate Passport Advantage Express entitlements to an existing Passport Advantage Agreement
    • increases the potential for higher volume discounts on new software licenses and all future S&S renewals
    • Additionally, migrating existing Passport Advantage Express entitlements to a single Passport Advantage Agreement can help
      • simplify Site and license management
      • consolidate license views at a Site level for tracking and compliance
  3. Introduction of the ‘All’ or ‘None’ IBM Software Subscription and Support renewal option
    • allows your customers to decide whether to renew Subscription and Support for ALL or NONE of their licensed, installed, and in service IBM software on a per product / per Site basis
    • provides your customers with an opportunity to review with you their total license estate, including both "in service" and "on the shelf" licenses to ensure they make the right strategic decision
    • helps you and your customers weigh the immediate impact and future costs of not renewing against the ongoing value Subscription and Support delivers
