IBM SecureWay Directory Version 3.2.2 for AIX is now available for download
IBM is excited to announce general availability of IBM SecureWay Directory
Version 3.2.2. IBM's goal is to provide industry leading LDAP technology
which meets the most demanding performance, scale, and reliability requirements.
Version 3.2.2 of the IBM SecureWay Directory includes major performance
enhancements, improved documentation, and full support for Linux. The
IBM SecureWay Directory version 3.2.2 is now available on both the Intel
and System 390 platforms. These exciting enhancements to the IBM SecureWay
Directory make IBM's goal a reality. The IBM SecureWay Directory Version
3.2.2 is clearly a industry leading LDAP technology.
The IBM SecureWay Directory was first released in 1997, version 3.2.2
of the IBM SecureWay Directory is the latest release in the long line
of exceptional LDAP technology products from IBM. The following new capabilities
are included in version 3.2.2 of the IBM SecureWay Directory:
- Improved performance
A key requirement for ebusiness or enterprise LDAP servers is high levels
of performance. Version 3.2.2 of the IBM SecureWay Directory meets this
requirement. The default installation of the IBM SecureWay Directory
was changed to ensure better performance out of the box. For customers
who currently use the IBM SecureWay Directory, IBM testing
predicts that the write performance could double and search performance
could improve as much as 33%.*
- Full Linux release
A full function version of the IBM SecureWay Directory for Linux is
now available. IBM SecureWay Directory for S/390 Linux is now available
along with SuSE Linux, Turbo Linux, and Red Hat Linux for Intel platforms
is available. The Linux distributions do not include the web administration
function, which is provided with other versions of the IBM SecureWay
Directory but in all other respects it is functionally equivalent.
- Improved Documentation
To ensure that customers can better utilize the documentation provided
with the IBM SecureWay Directory, the documentation has been reorganized
to make information look up easier. A new performance tuning guide is
provided. The performance tuning guide provides customers with suggestions
about the correct server settings to maximize server performance.
- Upgrades to Key components
IBM SecureWay Directory version 3.2.2 includes UDB version 7.2 and IBM
HTTP server version 1.3.19. The IBM SecureWay Directory utilizes UDB
as the backend data store and the IBM HTTP server for directory administration.
With each release of the IBM SecureWay Directory the latest release
of each component is provided to ensure that customer can take advantage
of the most recent features of the bundled products.
- IBM Gskit version 5.0d
SSL support is provided by the IBM Gskit. IBM SecureWay Directory version
3.2.2 includes the IBM Gskit version 5.0d. IBM Gskit version 5.0d includes
support for hardware encryption. Hardware encryption for SSL will often
increase the performance of SSL connections to the IBM SecureWay Directory.
Consult the IBM Gskit documentation to identify the specific hardware
encryption cards that are supported.
- Enhancements
When a defect is identified, IBM will ensure that a fixed is found.
Once a number of defect fixes are identified these are combined together
into a efix. efixes are made available to customers on the IBM SecureWay
Directory webpage. With each new release of the IBM SecureWay Directory
any efix to the previous version is included. The IBM SecureWay Directory
Version 3.2.2 includes all efixes for version 3.2.1.
